Hub · critical sour

Critical sour and regulatory test planning.

Sour testing is a planning problem first. Equipment, ERP, setbacks, and measurement have to match the well you actually have — before a spread is on the road.

Independent

We design the test and pick who runs it. We do not sell separators or truck time.

Western Canada

Alberta focus; Calgary / Edmonton-area operators and consultants. Saskatchewan and BC welcome.

Clean data package

Results packaged for decisions — not a chart dump from the lease.

Critical sour and high-H2S tests are where borrowed programs fail. The wrong package, a missing backup, or a measurement plan that cannot be defended will stop a job faster than weather. Alberta operators already know this; they still get thin programs from people who mainly sell days and iron.

We plan sour tests with AER-aware language: expected H2S, release scenarios, equipment class, ignition and flare, personnel, and the data you still need if the well is restricted. That language is planning guidance. It is not a legal opinion, not a professional stamp, and not a substitute for your licensee obligations.

Vendor matching is stricter here. Not every testing company should sit a critical sour well. We shortlist against capability, not against who called you last.

  • H2S case, equipment class, and ERP flags in the outline
  • Vendor shortlist against sour capability — not a generic bid list
  • Measurement and data plan that still works if rates are limited
  • Independent oversight option for high-consequence wells
  • AER-aware language; not legal advice

Welltest Advisory provides independent program design, vendor matching, coordination, and data-package support. Licensed service companies perform field work, operate equipment, and hold the relevant tickets. AER-aware language on this site is planning guidance, not legal, regulatory, or engineering stamp advice.

FAQ

Is this regulatory consulting?

No. We plan tests with AER-aware constraints. Your licensee, counsel, and stamped engineers own regulatory filings.

Will you refuse a vendor?

We will not shortlist a house that cannot demonstrate sour capability for the case. That is the job.

Do you write the ERP?

We identify ERP and planning interfaces. ERP authorship stays with the licensee and their designated providers.

Company, location, well type, objective, timeline, and H2S — enough to start. We design the test; licensed companies run the iron.
